Position Summary:
A skilled Oracle database administrator is required to support our new Oracle EBS system and future Oracle based systems. The person will work in a small team and as such the person needs to be competent to work independently with minimal supervision
Job Responsibilities:
• Recoverability
o Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets.
o Creating and Testing Backups
o Restoration from backup
o Ensuring that backup/recovery plans are fully tested and functioning
• Integrity
o Verifying or helping to verify data integrity
o Establish appropriate end-user Oracle database access control levels
o Ensuring business rules for data access are always implemented
• Security
o Defining and/or implementing access controls to the data
Adding and removing users
Transaction and security Audits
Checking for security problems
• Performance
o Ensuring maximum performance possible
o Provide recommendations on performance and efficiency of data
o Respond to and resolve Oracle database access and performance issues
o Monitor, optimize and allocate physical data storage for Oracle database systems.
• Developing and testing support
o Work with other team members to ensure programs functions as intended with no database performance issues
o Plan and coordinate data migrations between systems.
• Installation/testing of new software and software updates where applicable
• Work with other team members in system configuration
o Involved with initial database design of any new systems
o Create, or support creation of, required reports in response to business user needs.
o Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team.
Experience:
• Installing and maintaining Oracle E-Business Suite
• Oracle databases 9i, and 11g
• Strong understanding of Oracle 9i and 11g database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
• Working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting Oracle database servers, including Oracle 9i and 11g on a LINUX platform.
• Hands-on Oracle database tuning and troubleshooting experience.
• SQL, PL/SQL and LINUX Shell Scripting
• Oracle RAC
Preferred Skills:
• Oracle Developer/Forms/Reports 11g
• TOAD
• ETL Tools
