We are looking for a Mechanical Integrity Engineer (f/m) to join our European team based in Barry.

Dow Corning is the world leader in Silicone Polymers and Silicon Chemicals for extensive end-user applications. Our facility in Barry, South Wales is the largest and most technologically advanced Silicone manufacturing facility in Europe.
We have a vacancy in our Plant Integrity section which is UKAS accredited to provide independent assessment of Plant assets. This includes in-service assessment, but also in design and Quality assurance of new equipment. The department is an appointed ‘User inspectorate’ for conformity assessment to the Pressure Equipment Regulations.

Your responsibilities:
As an Integrity Engineer you provide independent assessment of Plant assets under the guise of a UKAS accredited inspection Body - to meet regulatory, safety, corporate and reliability requirements. You will also carry out independent design verification of new pressure/containment assets as a ‘user inspectorate’ for conformity assessment of new pressure equipment to the Pressure Equipment Regulations.
The role has many facets requiring detailed knowledge in Regulations, Design Codes, Fabrication, Quality Assurance, None destructive testing, etc.
This is no classic office job: Integrity Engineers are required to physical carryout examinations to ensure the ‘theoretical’ matches the ‘actual’, a strategy which Dow Corning believes develops the best Engineers for making independent competent judgments on its behalf.

Your profile:
Candidates should have already worked as a Cat 1 or 2 inspectors as defined in UKAS RG2 for PSSR, however consideration will be given to candidates who meet RG2 that could lead to Cat 1 or 2 appointment. Irrespective of RG2 requirements, you will be degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering and should be a Chartered Engineer or actively pursuing Chartered status.
We are seeking someone who can demonstrate reliability, flexibility, adaptability, resilience, strong communication and interpersonal skills, sound planning and organizational skills, dependability and the desire to succeed.  Customer focused and computer literate, you should be able to work well on your own as well as a member of a team.  As good safety record and attitude must also be shown.
